The Horse Race

It was a beautiful sun-filled afternoon as the jockeys, atop their mounts, lined up for the race.

Although the horses were similar in color, the riders were dressed in bright and varied colors.

Tension mounted and expectations were high; each had an equal chance; the signal was given and they were off!

Around and around the track they went!  A horse on the outside, carrying a heavier rider than the mount on the inside, nonetheless kept up his stride with no visible strain - what a gallant steed!

One jockey, six lengths back, almost fell off his mount but managed to regain his balance.  Another rider, foolish or overconfident, waved to the crowd.  His fans waved back.

As they entered the home stretch the horses were neck and neck, nose to nose!  This looked like a photo finish!

Then it was over, the jockeys dismounted, and the carousel stopped.
