We do not remember days ... we remember moments.
Cesare Pavese
I Have A Dream!
Jace Carlton

On August 28, 1963 a very peaceful shot was heard around the world.  On that day people were gathered together in support of something they believed in.  It was a very crowded gathering, and in spite of the hot summer sun beating down on them they weren't going to let the heat deter them from being there that day.

A gentleman stood up to a podium and delivered a speech.  After a few minutes of reading from his prepared notes he set them aside and began to speak from his heart.  Some say the most powerful words that are ever uttered are those which come from someone's heart without any prior thought or planning ... words planted there in the heart from a Higher source as a gift to be shared with others.  This gentleman's voice, normally very strong and vibrant, became very emotional.  He looked out over the crowd on that hot summer day and concluded a speech that many consider the most powerful political speech given by anyone during the 20th century.

Less than five years after delivering that speech his life would be shortened by an assassin's bullet, but his dream could not and would not die with him.  Countless others over the years have stepped up to carry the torch of his dream, doing their part to keep the flame alive.
Today, January 15, 2007, people are celebrating what would have been this gentleman's 78th birthday.

The actual number of people present on that hot day in August 1963 varies from estimates as low as 200,000 to as high as over 500,000.  The name of the gentleman who delivered that speech heard around the world was Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.  He had a dream, and he was inspired to share that dream with the world.  And even though there are struggles and problems that are still going on today, we are all better off because one man spoke from his heart that day with the desire to make this world a little bit better.

Dreams DO come true!
